How do skin peels work?
Skin peels are precise combinations of different chemicals that are
formulated to “peel” away the outer dead layers of the skin. This
leaves the inner living layers exposed to regenerate without the dead
layers getting in the way.
Different peels have different depths of action – and therefore
different results. The two main systems we use are:
Agera® Rx Peels
The Agera® Rx range of peels have several advantages. They cause
minimal “peeling” of the skin, but instead work by causing some of the
cells deep in the skin (called fibroblasts) to divide and produce more
collagen and elastin. These proteins help rejuvenate the skin.
This range has very little irritation to the skin and so you can walk
out straight out of your treatment and get on with your life. The
Agera® Rx treatments are even more effective when combined with
microdermabrasion.
Obaji Blue Peels
The Obagi Blue peel has become one of the most widely known about
peels. It is very powerful, and so has to be applied by a doctor. It
can be used anywhere, not only the face but also the neck, back,
chest, arms and legs.
It is applied to the skin and a sensation of warmth is felt as it
works. It is then washed off when it has had the effect. It has a very
good effect on loose skin, fine lines, acne, large pores and pigmented
areas.
As the Obagi peel is a true peel, it takes about a week for the newly
exposed skin to fully heal and give the full effect.
